The Town Centre

V1.1 New Waiting Restrictions for parking in the High Street were introduced as from 2006 to ensure that the pedestrianised area remained clear during the day.  Loading and unloading for deliveries is allowed from 8.00 -10.00 and 4.30 - 6.30 and parking is only permitted from 6.30 pm until 8.00 am. This has resulted in the pedestrianised area being free from cars during the day.
A survey conducted six months later showed that the majority of the public found the arrangements acceptable but an earlier end to the restrictions at 6.00pm would prove a popular refinement together with a 10 mph speed restriction. (For the results of the survey click here)
