Car Park Information Project
Purpose of the Project
To provide information to visitors arriving at the town centre car parks indicating pedestrian routes to the town centres and other information promoting services and facilities available within Leatherhead.
Background
The provision of car parking was criticised in the Leatherhead healthcheck report. The capacity of the car parks has increased and further provision is anticipated early in 2007. The number of spaces available to visitors is now considered to be adequate but, because of the layout of the town, these car parks are on the edge of the commercial centre. Visitors that do not know the town need guidance on the most direct routes into the shopping centre and the opportunity should also be taken to provide more information on the services and facilities that are available within the town.
It is proposed to provide information cabinets initially within two of the key town centre car parks. Cabinets chosen are good quality display units of traditional design produced by Broxap. The car parks chosen are Station Road and Randalls Road/Bull Hill. These are all owned and managed by the district Council and installation would be straightforward. Maintenance would be the responsibility of the District Council.
