OBJECTIVE 8: To encourage businesses and residents to take local responsibility for environmental issues of national/global concern

EN6TO PROMOTE WASTE REDUCTION 
EN6.1Investigate ways community groups could assist in encouraging and facilitating trade waste recycling and the reduction, re-use and recycling of domestic waste. 
EN6.2Encourage efforts to reduce waste and encourage the establishment of the educational information centre at the MRF. 
EN6.3Improve information about which materials can be recycled. 
EN7TO PROMOTE THE REDUCTION OF ENERGY USE 
EN7.1Promote energy efficiency in new buildings in the area. 
EN7.2Encourage Safe Routes to school, especially for the children of the new Trinity Primary School and the development of business travel plans 
EN7.3Publicise best practice, such as at the MVDC development at Overlord Court 
EN7.4Inform the public about ways to reduce energy use. 
EN8TO CONNECT LOCAL PRODUCERS WITH LOCAL CONSUMERS 
EN8.1Develop a plan for encouraging locally produced food such as outlets for Surrey Hills Project. 
EN8.2Encourage the Dorincourt vegetable box and other initiatives. Establish an outlet for locally produced food and other produce within the town 
EN8.3Assemble information about local produce and prepare an information leaflet about it.
