Seating Project
Objective of Project
To provide seating on the periphery of the town for those wishing to access the centre of Leatherhead by foot.
Background
The catchment of Leatherhead includes peripheral residential areas. There are walking routes into the town that could be made more attractive through the provision of seating along the way. This would benefit older people, young children and people with a disability in particular. It would encourage pedestrian linkages between the town centre and the commercial heart of the town, reducing CO2 emissions and taking pressure off town centre car parks.
What is proposed?
Seating would be of the Ollerton ‘Festival’ type incorporating backs and arms for ease of use. The style will match others that have been installed in the Leatherhead area. They are attractive and robust. Eight seats would be provided on locations on the edge of the town centres.
